About
I started dancing as at the age of four and I haven’t stopped moving since. My passion took me to the University of Michigan where I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. After graduation I moved to Washington D.C. where I interned in grants and individual giving at Dance Place, did project-based work with SJ Ewing & Dancers and danced full-time with StepAfrika.
After two seasons with StepAfrika, I decided to leave the company, sell all my belongs and buy a one-way ticket to Ireland to discover dance in Europe. Six months later and many european adventures later, I ran out of money and went back home. With no belongings or job, I asked myself where I wanted to restart and most importantly where did I feel the happiest. The answer was as clear as day:
Belgium.
My Story
Since moving to Belgium I’ve expanded in ways I could imagine. I embraced freelance work over full-time company life, I started seeing my creativity as something I can use outside the studio to build various projects and I started collaborating with amazing artists.
Most recently, I finished an international tour of my self-produced work Moving Meditations, a multidisciplinary work about healing. I also toured internationally with The Golden Stool: The story of Nana Yaa Asantewaa, an AfrOpera directed by Gorge Ocloo. I’ve also worked with percussion company ZIKIT, children’s theater 4Hoogkindertheater, Nadine Baboy, Delila Hermans, Jana Roos, Alexis Blake, and Lila Magnin.
This upcoming season I’m revving up for another international tour of the The Golden Stool: The story of Nana Yaa Asantewaa, and Sāmara, choreographed by Lila Magnin as well as an arts residency at the University Michigan in March 2025.
I founded the arts organization S.T.U. Arts Dance, whose mission is to encourage Belgian audiences to see, think and understand the art of dance for personal, professional and social development.
I’ve given talks at BOZAR and TedxBrussels and my work and story has been featured in the I Love Brussels Online Magazine, the Behind the Story Podcast, the Brussels Express, BX1 Media,Accountable, Count Me In Podcast, BRUZZ Media, Radio France Internationale, Together Magazine and Brown Girls Do Ballet.
